BOCA RATON - Every once in a while - far too infrequently - comes a rare story such as this. In this retirement community fifty miles north of Miami, a story is unfolding that re-affirms one's faith in others and in the world, despite a cynical and hardened universe. For it is here there is a story of one animal's love for another.

It is the story of the lion literally lying down with the lamb.

It is the story of Snuggles, an urbanized field mouse who was attacked and left for dead by an unknown feline assailant, and taken in and nursed back to health by Baby, a tabby cat who was up until then, a complete stranger.

"I came upon Snuggles, who was barely moving, and immediately felt sympathy for her," said Baby. "I felt like the righteous gentiles who helped Jewish people," Baby continued. "Cats have always felt the sting of collective guilt, and suddenly here was an opportunity literally placed in front of me, to dispel that stereotype. I picked her up, gently, and carried her home. I placed her on the towel which is always left on the floor for me, and gave her water from my bowl. I then gave her some pieces of Meow Mix. Within an hour, Snuggles started to stir. I knew right then that I had done the right thing."

Baby continued explaining her actions and the scenario. "If anything, it was the biped I live with who misunderstood my actions. The biped walked into the bathroom and shrieked. Then she tried to take away my newfound friend. And she also scolded me for bringing Snuggles into the house. We had more than just an argument over Snuggles - it turned into a screaming match. I put myself on top of Snuggles, and the biped finally gave up. She said to me ‘Alright, I'm not going to get scratched and maybe bitten over a stupid mouse.' The biped takes good care of me, and I hated to argue with her."

"Snuggles gets stronger and more active with each passing day," said Baby. I hate to act over protectively, like the proverbial Jewish mother, but I told Snuggles that she should stay in the house with me, from now on. It's a dangerous world out there."

Make misha marinsky's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
