Radio 4 presenter James Naughtie apologised earlier today for causing offence live on air on Monday by mispronouncing Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt's surname. Naughtie inadvertently used the first letter of the Culture Secretary's title to replace the 'H' in Mr Hunt's surname.
However, this afternoon he u-turned spectacularly, saying that he was fed up with the pedestrian show, and wanted to give it the flavour of his favourite website, The Spoof.
"To be honest, I get sick of the lack of levity and wanted to introduce a smorgasbord of Ron Burgandy, Howard Stern and Russell Brand into the mix. It wasn't a mistake I called him a C***. I'd scripted it the night before."
His interview with Ed Balls has been cancelled tomorrow as Naughtie says he wouldn't be able to stop himself.
