image for Stolen snowman was kidnapped!
10 packs of mince pies, or the snowman gets it!

Mary Hinge of Kent had her Snowman stolen last week, and rang the police. Unfortunately for Mary, the police were less than sympathetic.

Now it transpires that her snowman was not just stolen, but in fact, kidnapped.

"I don't know weather to ring the police again or not," said Mary, making the obvious pun in the snow. "Last time I rang them, they scoffed at my request that they investigated the theft of my snowman, and told me that they would arrest me for wasting police time."

Now, Ms Hinge has been sent a ransom letter.

"I was distraught," said Ms Hinge. "I was opening Christmas cards, when this photo dropped out."

The photo shows a man in a balaclava stood next to Mary's snowman holding a Babyless X7000 three speed hairdryer to the snowman's head. The accompanying note, cut from several red top newspapers states simply:

"Leave ten packs of own brand mince pies in an unmarked bag at the corner of the street, or the snowman gets it. No Police - we'll know!"

Mary is convinced the snowman is her snowman, despite the majority of snowmen looking very similar.

"I don't know if I should get the police involved or just pay the ransom," said Mary, devastated. "I've got the mince pies in just in case."

A little bit of digging not only helped Mary get her car off the drive, but also allowed The Spoof to discover that Kent Police are behind the ransom note.
