image for Lib Dems join the Tories
Westminster is buzzing with excitement

As from September 1 the Liberal Democrat Party will cease to exist. All LibDem members of Parliament and councillors will become Conservatives. A little known clause in the Lib Dem constitution has enabled Nick Clegg to make this dramatic move without any further approval.

However his Party is Right behind him and jubilant at the development. The Party Conference of the Conservative Party is to include all former LibDem support. 'We don't need a Conference' explained Nick Clegg 'we are now officially Conservatives, instead of unofficially.'

At the next election all standing, former Lib Dem MP's will be the Conservative Candidate and Britain has now, in effect, become a two party system.

'This is an historic and brilliant development' said a jubilant David Cameron as he cradled his Cornish Pasty in his arms 'we are now one.'

A few dissident ultra Liberal fanatics have vowed to keep the flag flying on the Shetland and Orkney Islands. 'They are as far removed from reality as those Norweigan islands have been from the rest of us for centuries' declared George Osborne.

Asked what he thought of the development, Labour candidate for the Leadership, David Miliband replied: 'I'm engaged in a cut throat contest with by friends to climb to the top of the greasy pole. Don't sidetrack me with this non-issue.'

So there we have it. A new political era is upon us and Westminster is buzzing with excitement.
