Nick Clegg Goes Shopping In Disguise

Westminster - Reports are coming in that Deputy PM Nick Clegg came over a bit funny recently watching an episode of Dickinson's Real Deal on an old 19 inch Sony Trinitron TV set.

It is thought that Nick Clegg got so engrossed in the antique wheeler-dealer show that his body momentarily "forgot" to perform a number of basic motor functions, resulting in his feeling "a bit funny."

A concerned staffer is reported to have approached Nick Clegg in order to kiss his anointed backside better, but the Deputy PM was said to have given her 'the bum's rush.'

The funny turn episode is thought to have been prompted by events on Dickinson's Real Deal involving that dodgy Mike fellow offering a punter thirty quid for a solid gold replica of the Jules Rimet trophy - the original football World Cup.

Before it was replaced by that other one after it was presented to the Brazilians for keeps when they won it for a third time in Mexico, in 1970.

Apparently Mike stated that there's not much demand for twelve inch high 24 carat gold replicas of the original World Cup so he wouldn't budge above thirty quid.

Not even with an extra fiver.

At which point Nick Clegg had his funny turn.

A source told us that a doctor wasn't called, and neither was an ambulance, and that Nick Clegg made a complete recovery after a minute or two. It is thought generally that there is no real concern for Nick Clegg's health.

The punter took the replica World Cup to auction, where it raised something in the region of a quarter of a million pounds.

Mike the dealer shrugged as he told us: "You win some, you lose some."

David Dickinson was unavailable for comment.

More as we get it.
