Dean Thomas of the Purple Chairs promoting Bass Relief

With the success of Sports Relief and Comic Relief, charity organisations are jumping on the bandwagon and adding to the charity calendar with a whole raft of new Relief formats.

High powered businessmen can now look at April 15th of each year to give women less fortunate than themselves in Executive Relief. Whilst in the music industry, legendary guitarist Jack Bruce of Cream has joined forces with Chris Hillman of the Byrds, John Entwistle of The Who and Cliff Burton from Metallica to form Bass Relief.

People will be encouraged to push themselves through personal boundaries or wear barbed wire corsets in July's Pain Relief, whilst brewers are pushing for one day in August to be Vat Relief, where the normal exhortations to stop drinking are stopped and people are encouraged to get drunk for charity.

Stress-Relief will encourage people to take an hour off work and do something charitable instead. Helium balloons will be on sale throughout November as various charities have clubbed together to form Light Relief.

December has been deemed off limits to all charitable organisations to allow people to save for Christmas and recover from all their charitable work throughout the year. This period will be called Relief Relief.
