See Ya Later Love, Just Going Fishing.

Following an emotional television advertisement, eschewing the benefits of fishing, a Spoof contributor today announced that he would be taking up the 'sport' because it made sense and was just too difficult a challenge to resist.

The writer, who can't be named for legal reasons, told us:

"This Scottish chap was saying on the old goggle box that fishing was beneficial to his marriage. Because he went out all day and did his fishing, while his Mrs stayed at home and did her thing. Seems she was glad to see him come home of an evening and everything was cushty."

The writer then told us:

"It's a battle of wits. I mean, pitting your intelligence against the mighty intellect of a trout, that's a real challenge that is. Plus you can set up a tent by the river, play the radio, and drink beer all day. It's magic! Don't know why I never thought of it years ago!"

There was a flipside to this however, as long-suffering Mrs Skoob told us:

"He ain't goin' bleedin' fishin'!" in a broad Worcester accent. "He struggles catching a fish up the chippy. Battle of wits my arse! More like a battle with the bottle."

"It's a shame that," the Spoof writer told us. "I was going to get one of them remote-controlled model boats to lay the bait. But in the end, the Mrs is the boss. I suppose I'll have to settle for watching United. She likes football. She likes fish too, but she reckons I'd never catch any because I'm a twat."

More marital strife as we get it.

Make Skoob1999's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
