image for Brown blames Labour's Euro defeat on Thatcher
Brown lays the blame at Mrs Thatcher's feet

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has come out fighting after Labour's disastrous performance in the Euro elections which saw it fall to third place behind UKIP.

Mr Brown said: "I take full responsibility for these results. It's all Mrs Thatcher's fault."

Even though Thatcher left office 19 years ago, Mr Brown insisted his party's poor showing had nothing to do with him being a crap prime minister or his party being full of greedy crooks.

"Look, I am here to be candid and honest. My father taught me to always be honest. And that is why I am here to tell you that this government is doing a great job and it's only because of Mrs Thatcher that some people didn't vote for us."

Labour backbenchers are said to be desperate to get rid of Mr Brown so they don't lose their seats at the next election. One Labour MP who didn't want to be named said: "I'm a hardworking MP. I work very hard so me and my wife can stay in nice hotels and eat out at good restaurants. If I lose my seat, I'll have to get a job. That's just not on."
