image for Hand puppet in running to replace Gordon Brown
a live version of basil brush

Labor Party insiders have disclosed that childrens' TV legend, Basil Brush, has been approached as a possible replacement for the embattled Prime Minister, as he struggles to fend off the critics in the wake of the MP expenses scandal.

A Labor spokesperson indicated today that Basil Brush would be more effective and hold up the junior vote at any election that may be brought on in the near future.

Some MPs are quietly endorsing the glove puppet as a leader of the Government.

"He's quick witted and very good at repartee" said one House of Commons member on the Government side.

"I like his foxy personality' said another.

This is seriously damaging for a Prime Minister who once trusted his fellow Commons representatives; to think that a phony TV character can have more appeal than a hairy chested Scotsman who loves rugby.

Basil Brush didn't have anything to say when approached (after all, he is only a glove puppet).

Make whatinthe world's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
