The Daily Mirror printed fresh allegations against British troops serving in Basra this morning after one Iraqi war widow insisted she was "forced to do the funky chicken".

The new accusations, which are accompanied by yet more photographs, come just hours after Tony Blair warned Mirror editor Piers Morgan by saying, "I'll shoot your wife. I'll shoot your kids. And then I'll shoot you."

However, The Daily Mirror appears to have gone on the offensive by printing its most damning story yet. The report claims twenty-three Iraqi war widows were "out for an afternoon stroll" when they were apprehended by British soldiers before being detained.

"We just waved at them and smiled politely," admitted one tearful widow. "The next thing I remember is someone putting a Rufus Thomas record on the gramophone. My friends were made to do 'the robot', but I was forced to do the funky chicken. I used to have great respect for the coalition forces that killed my husband when they invaded my country, but now I'm not so sure."

Pictures that accompany the story appear to show several old crones dancing while British Soldiers look on.

Downing Street has called the authenticity of the pictures into question. "There's clearly nothing funky about that funky chicken," a spokesman said. "My old Nan does it better than that."
