image for Sex Law Blunder Threatens Teens
No saying no

A lawyer has uncovered a drafting error in the UK consent laws making sex compulsory from the age of 16.

The Act, which was introduced to lower the age for consensual sex while at the same time protecting young people, has actually made it illegal for them to say no.

A City solicitor found the boo-boo while defending a 45-year-old headmaster caught in flagrante delicto with one of his pupils. The mistake was corrected by the time the statute was published but remains in the original document so is therefore enshrined in law.

Until the government can find time to enact a correction, anyone aged 16 or over faces a lengthy jail sentence for turning down an offer of intimacy.

Speaking to TheSpoof.com Prime Minister Gordon Brown blamed civil servants trusting the drafting to a dyslexic law student and asked, "Aren't I in enough fucking trouble already?"
