A 'laptop' yesterday

The two 16-year-old British girls accused of trying to smuggle £300,000 worth of cocaine out of Ghana said last night that they had been the victims of a set-up.

Yasmin and Yatunde, who couldn't remember their surnames, insist they met two boys in London who asked them to go to Africa to pick up some laptops which one of the forgetful lads had left there by accident.

The girls claim that they immediately went home to collect their make-up, told their gullible parents they were going to 'score some laptops', and boarded the first flight out of Heathrow bound for the Ghanaian capital.

After spending an all-expenses-paid week in Ghana, they were given a laptop each to bring back to the UK, but were spotted acting suspiciously by everyone that looked at them, and arrested.

Speaking from her prison cell, Yasmin said:

"We wuz set-up. We don't know nuffink."

Yatunde, of Niggerian descent, confirmed this, saying:

"We don't know nuffink. Proppa."

Sarah Dogooder of the British Consulate in Accra, spoke to the girls and told reporters:

"They've been set-up. A boy met them in Accra and told them to take the laptops to London and not to open them. He also said they were not doing anything wrong, told them not to worry, and stressed that there were "definitely no drugs" inside the laptops. They didn't suspect nuffink."

The girls families say their daughters are being denied burgers and their own dresses, and have almost no make-up.

If found guilty of trafficking, the girls are likely to suffer a 'stiff sentence' from most, if not all, the notoriously ruthless and well-hung Ghanaian prison guards.
