image for Gordon Brown - Britain's 50 Second Prime Minister
Sharp intake of breath

In accepting the Queen's invitation to form a Government Gordon Brown has become Great Britain's 52nd Prime Minister, but Labour party insiders secretly think of him as the "50 Second Prime Minister".

An undercurrent of opinion is scornful of his back-door appointment as party leader and thinks of him less of an invitee to form a Government and more of a gatecrasher.

Anyone posing a threat to his appointment was either dissuaded by party whips or rewarded for not standing with high profile jobs, they say.

Brown cuts a poor media figure with his single eye and chronic St Vitus, the latter causing him the annoying habit of dropping his lower jaw and inhaling after every sentence.

Nor is he popular with the British public, after ripping off their pensions and succeeding in pocketing more taxes than ever before in history.

Brown's premiership is considered unlikely to succeed his first General Election and Blair's legacy of leaving the undeserving British electorate in his incapable hands has been likened to Margaret Thatcher's John Major and Richard Nixon's equally useless Jimmy Carter.

Make Shaun Ferguson's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
