Sheffields steel industry on a knife-edge

The case of the mysterious disappearing Lake in Chile has been solved after it reappeared suddenly in Sheffield today.

The Chilean Lake baffled geologists last week who turned up one morning to find it had completely vanished leaving a couple of helplessly flapping fish.

Scientists conjectured that it had seeped through a massive fissure and escaped into the ground. In a bizarre twist the lake today re-emerged in the middle of Sheffield, a formerly prosperous steel town, which is now waterlogged and fully submerged under the Chilean lake. Stranded residents were today being lifted by helicopter from rooftops where they will be relocated in nearby Hull.

A geologist commented today that the lake could disappear again at any time depending on a whim and reappear anywhere in the world. Current landmarks in Sheffield are the Underwater Crucible with a floating Tierra Del Fuego and lots of chimneys with the Andes mountain range as a backdrop. Politicians fear many illegal immigrants who were sucked through the may now surface near Hull. There are already sightings of "colourfully dressed men with herds of llama," flooding in.
