image for Blair holds Brown at knife-point as hostage crisis continues at No 10
Armed police outside No 10 today.

There were chaotic scenes last night when Prime Minister, Tony Blair, refused to attend a police interview and instead took an astonished Gordon Brown hostage at knife-point.

The PM had been due to face intense questioning over the 'cash for peerages' scandal and some reports claim he was close to being charged.

Events took a dramatic turn, however, during a meeting at 8 pm last night, when Mr Blair grabbed a cake slicer and threatened to 'gut Brown like a fish'

"It was nuts," said one eye witness, "Gordon asked him about the impending police interview and Tony suddenly went berserk! He grabbed a cake slicer and held it to Gordon's throat."

The hostage crisis has continued through the night and trained negotiators are currently in contact with Mr Blair.

It is believed that his demands include a fuelled Boeing 747, to be on standby at Heathrow airport and 2 million pounds in used notes. He also wants to retain the title of Prime Minister and a holiday in Barbados with the remaining members of the BeeGees.

Armed police are currently at the scene and could be gearing up to take the PM by force. Some Labour politicians, however have claimed that this could lead to a bloodbath.

"Tony is a wildman," said one Labour backbencher, "Perfectly capable of murder......especially if the victim is Gordon Brown."
