Whoops is Up

Spoof Candidate, Jeremiah Whoops, is standing in the next General election. 'This is no joke' he told reporters tripping him up on his way to the cabinet 'I really need a pee.'

The hacks did not give up and besiged Jeremiah when he emerged. 'I thought of trying to be Pope' he declared 'but the sex was only allowed in secret conclaves and it was against my beliefs. Becoming Prime Minister is another matter. I don't believe in that either so I should get plenty of votes.'

Following on from the Italian comic Giusseppe Pandalopo, who almost won the election there Whoops sees his chances of a surprise victory as surprisingly high.

Nobel prize winner, Sir Herbert Wright, commented that Whoops 'could save the nation - laughing is the best tonic you can get.'

Latest opinion polls have seen a massive Whoops swing. From 0.1% he has risen to 60% in a week.

Current PM David Cameroon, speaking from his constituency in Eton College, ridiculed Whoops. 'Just because the Italians like a joke doesn't mean we British want to laugh' he warbled 'Europe is decadent and we should learn to enjoy misery not humour.'

A backbench revolt by MP's who have forgotten how to laugh is putting Cameroon in danger. If Whoops poll ratings continue to rise we could be in for plenty of hysteria.
