The Spoof - believe it or not

Police tonight revealed that top internet news site The Spoof is to be investigated in the phone-hacking scandal.

An inquiry launched in the wake of alleged phone-hacking has heard details suggesting that the illegal practice was widespread. Notebooks belonging to private detective Glenn Mulcaire suggest he hacked phones for the Sun, the Daily Mirror and The News of the World amongst other news media. The list is not exhaustive and The Spoof is amongst those other enterprises under suspicion.

Det. Chief Superintendant Betty Lissuns said, "Following extensive enquiries we used Google Earth to zoom in on an innocuous home and saw an array of satellite dishes arrayed in the back garden. Our suspicions were immediately aroused."

The Spoof has immediately challenged the assertions. Spoof CEO Mark Lowton went on record as saying, "These dishes are purely for pornographic entertainment. After all, there's not a lot else going on."

One Spoof reporter, identified only as S***b for legal reasons, admitted that he had listened in on phone calls. "I was in the pub and overheard a conversation between the Landlord and his missus which seemed a bit dodgy. Turns out he's been shagging the vicar..."

D.C.I. Lissuns has also volunteered, "Unfortunately this is the tip of the iceberg regarding The Spoof. An insider has informed us that many of the correspondents working for The Spoof are dependant on drink and drugs. In fact the vast majority of reports are written under the influence, which immediately brings into question their veracity. It may even be that The Spoof isn't reporting accurately at all."

Mr. Lowton again insists that this isn't true. "I'm as honest as the day is long," he said. "Of course I like a drink. I came home drunk last night, crept up the stairs, slowly got into bed and then started to rub my wife's cock. That's when I thought, 'I don't even live at number 15!'"
