A senior Metropolitan Police officer has been sacked and two PC's suspended after the wrongful arrest of Ann Widdecombe.

On Saturday night, the former Conservative politician was held in a cell for 9 hours after being mistaken for a black youth wanted in connection with a nightclub shooting.

Speaking for the first time since the incident, Miss Widdecombe has said she is shaken but relieved.

"They were screaming at me, demanding to know the whereabouts of Delroy Brown from the Peckham crew and the location of the weapons".

Wiping a tear from her face she described how she was forced to change into a white paper suit while her Marks & Spencer cardigan was taken be examined for gunshot residue.

"I half expected Jemery Beadle to walk in but I remembered, he is dead".

The Police Complaints Authority has announced that it is not investigating because it was dispanded in 2004.
