"Stop that racket at once"

Following weeks of speculation that the new Iranian government has secretly been stockpiling party poppers and streamers left over from new year celebrations, reports from Tehran have indicated that the regime has also acquired a considerable supply of fireworks that were left unused following the Dec 31st celebrations in the west.
The exact source of the firework supply has yet to be established although sources close to the Pentagon have already pointed the finger of suspicion at countries they want to invade next.
Despite protests from both Europe and the US, Iranian minister of pyrotechnics Mr Ahmaninejad remained defiant during a speech in front of lots of
people burning an American flag" It is the inalienable right of the Iranian people to let off party poppers streamers and, yes, if necessary, fireworks" his voiceover on the news report said " Bush Blair and the west should be aware that the Iranian people invented this stuff to start with " he continued vehemently before pausing and lapsing into a moment of uncertainty "or was it the Chinese ?"
Iran's traditional foe in Washington has also been joined by European leaders in condemning the latest move by Tehran to keep people awake all
night with loud bangs and people falling over garden furniture in the dark after midnight. A furious German chancellor Angela Merkel was particularly scathing in her attack on any attempt by Iran to celebrate anything " what would happen if these people were to celebrate during the world cup in Germany in six months time? The result could be catastrophic. Especially if they qualify for the knock out stages"
However, an equally concerned Tony Blair attempted to placate Ms Merkel by explaining that such a scenario was unlikely, due to Iran having been drawn in the same soccer group as Mexico Portugal and Newcastle Utd.
Her sentiments were echoed by the US administration who issued a terse statement warning Iran that any attempt to let fireworks off after midnight would result in sanctions, especially if they woke Kofi Annan while he was asleep in the UN building.
