Even Cardiff appeared to be in celebratory mood, as Swansea City secured promotion to the Premier League, courtesy of a 4-2 victory over Reading at Wembley on Bank Holiday Monday.
However, the Swans' ascent into the top flight has not been universally popular, although welcomed by most.
West Ham fan, Harry Winston Bulldog was not quite so accommodating. At a press conference this morning, Harry made it perfectly clear that 'them Welsh boyos' aren't welcome among England's footballing elite.
He stated that the Welsh were by nature a nation of choir singing, rugby watching, coal miners, with a penchant for nastiness and sheep abuse.
"It's not like watching Barcelona, mate," Bulldog said. "It's like watching Swansea. In fact, it's exactly like watching Swansea. Give me Blackpool or Burnley anytime. They might be Northern muppets wot plays with ferrets and whippets and wears flat caps and all that, but they're better than the bleedin' Taffys. At least they talks English. After a fashion. And no - I'm not makin' any sheep-shagger jokes. I ain't a bleedin' bigot mate. No matter wot you think."
More as we get it.
