image for FA To Breakaway From FIFA
Three Lions And Two Fingers To FIFA

News is filtering through which makes the astonishing suggestion that the FA is to break away from football's world governing body, FIFA.

Insiders say that FA officials were initially 'exasperated' by England's failed 2018 World Cup bid, and then 'infuriated' by minor FIFA officials allegedly demanding 'sweeteners' in exchange for votes.

This break appears to have been looming on the horizon for some time, and has been exacerbated by a number of incidents, which kicked off with FIFA's refusal to embrace goal line technology. The awarding of the 2018 World Cup to Russia, and the fiasco of potentially playing in 50 degree heat in Qatar in 2022 added to the FA's frustration.

Things escalated to the levels of pure farce, as the apparently clueless governing body suggested playing 2022 in winter, before going completely barking and talking about introducing artificial clouds in order to cool things down.

It seems that the FA has had enough.

There is a precedent for a secession - The FA founded the Premiership after splitting from the Football League, and now it appears that they're ready to give Blatter and Platini the big heave-ho.

An informed source told Skoob Sports News:

"The FA have had enough of Blatter and co. They're well up for sticking two fingers up to FIFA. England is where the money is, so the FA are working from a very powerful position. It seems likely that the FA will set up an alternative ruling body, and that isn't as far fetched as it might at first appear. If the FA can get a few key nations on board, such as Spain, Italy, Brazil, Argentina and Germany, then FIFA will be as good as a dead duck. As opposed to a lame one."

And we might get a World Cup without bloody vuvuzelas.

More as we get it.*

*There's more:

An FA split now seems more likely than ever, after FIFA officials have been investigated for corruption, and it was announced that controversial Chief, Sepp Blatter, is to run unopposed for the FIFA Presidency.

FIFA may well become an ex-governing body in the very near future. Imagine if they stage a World Cup and nobody goes...
