image for World Twenty20 Latest: Collingwood Admits Declaration Was A Mistake
A familiar sight for England cricket fans

England skipper Paul Collingwood admitted that his sides declaration after one over in the rain ruined match against East Timor may have been a mistake. Speaking at the post-match press conference Collingwood said :

"It seemed like a good idea at the time. I remember reading a book by Mike Brearley. He's really clever and he said that keeping wickets in hand was a good thing. It's not my fault. I got tired and never finished the chapter. I asked the other guys what they thought. They just chewed their biltong and didn't seem interested. Except Eoin. He said it was a good idea."

England's reckless declaration leaves them bottom in a group consisting of themselves, East Timor. Lithuania and Mr Graham Nugent of 15 Acacia Drive, Nuneaton. The final must win game against Mr Nugent takes place on Thursday and England will be boosted by the news that the tea lady is fit again to push the trolley.

Meanwhile Mr Nugent insists that he is confident of going all the way:

"Obviously the invitation from the ICC was a shock but I was only saying to the wife last month that we could do with a nice break"

Mr Nugent is awaiting news of a late fitness test for his wife, Mavis, who sprained her ankle running out Lithuania skipper Ari Fartinlot.
