image for Jamie Carragher In Old Trafford Accident Drama
A Manchester United Player Being Rescued From The Ship Canal Yesterday Teatime

Further drama at Old Trafford yesterday afternoon following Liverpool's 2-1 defeat to despised rivals Manchester United when hard-man Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher stubbed his toe walking to the shower in the dressing room.

Carragher reportedly cried out:

"Aaaaaaarrrrgggh! Ya ^$£^$ ***&****%^%$%^$%£!!!!"

Several concerned Liverpool players rushed to Carragher's assistance but following a quick examination by paramedics he was described as 'mildly traumatised' and advised to drink plenty of hot chocolate then have an early night.

This is not the first time the Old Trafford jinx has struck a visiting Liverpool team. In 2001 Michael Owen, then a Liverpool player was forced to leap out of the shower when the water got too hot, and in 1973 Kevin Keegan's wash and go shampoo and Brut deodorant body spray disappeared without trace.

Liverpool legend Bill Shankly once refused to go into the Old Trafford dressing rooms because he thought he'd seen a big dog hiding behind the door.

These spooky incidents aren't merely confined to visiting Liverpool players. Leeds United's Billy Bremner once tore two buttons off a perfectly good shirt and Pat Jennings, the then Tottenham goalkeeper once landed in a heap after getting tangled up in his trousers following a 3-3 Charity Shield draw.

United officials were quick to play down the spooky, haunted, dressing room stories. Sir Alex Ferguson himself told us that accidents often happened in dressing rooms and that a number of United players had also fallen over in the dressing room over the years.

Players such as George Best, Norman Whiteside, Paul McGrath and Brian Robson.

"Paul McGrath was always bloody falling over in the dressing room," Sir Alex told us. "It doesn't mean the place is haunted."

More as we get it.
