Keane: always a Spud at heart

Fans who were sitting near Robbie Keane at Anfield last Sunday during the Liverpool v. Chelsea game, have said that even before his transfer back to White Hart Lane had been announced, the player was wearing a Tottenham scarf around his neck.

Keane, who had been signed from Spurs last July, rejoined them yesterday after only 6 months as a Liverpool player, but some believe that the Irishman's heart was always in London.

The player never settled at Anfield, and found it difficult to please the Reds fans, even though he supported Liverpool as a boy.

Pictures in several daily morning newspapers showed Keane wearing a partly-concealed navy-blue-and-white scarf, but those fans situated near to him in the ground sat they are certain they saw the Spurs crest on it.

One fan, Tosh McGurty, who was sitting just behind Keane at the Chelsea game, said:

"He's a bloody disgrace! The lad 'ad a Tottenham scarf on, an' 'e didn't even cheer when Torres scored. Good riddance to 'im!"

Another supporter, Nick Hubcap, 14, told us:

"I never trusted Keane from the start. He's not a Scouser through-and-through like Freddie Torres, Yosser Benayoun or Dickie Kite."

Depending on Liverpool's form from hereonin, Keane could be the first player in history to win a Premiership-winners medal and suffer relegation in the same season.
