image for All Blacks to Sacrifice Live Pig against Irish
Porky , the All Blacks new mascot.

The New Zealand Rugby team the All Blacks is planning a live animal sacrifice as part of its pre-match Haka routine.

Gutsy All Black half-back Piri Weepu will perform the blood curdling ritual in front of thousands of spectators at Dublin's Coyne Park Rugby stadium.

The team has been stung by some Irish media comments that they are "bullies" and that they use a throat slitting routine in the famous Haka.

Manager Graham Henry denies that the All Blacks are bullies and said that if anything the Haka was becoming a bit soft.

"Im pleased the boys are going to spice up their pre-match routine a little" chuckled Henry during an All Black training run.

"If the Irish want hard they'll get hard, no question about that" laughed Henry.

Weepu says that the team felt strongly that the Haka was becoming a bit too predictable and that it was time, especially in the light of negative media comments from the Irish Press to "Step up the ante a bit".

The ceremony will be performed using a live pig at the climax and conclusion of the Haka on a specially prepared area which can then be cleared away before the game begins.

Several of the players are keen to drink some of the pig's blood in front of the Irish team in order to show them that they (The All Blacks) are not to be trifled with.
