image for Satanic Worshipers boycott Tampa Bay Rays
Satan - Not pleased.

Satanic worshipers have been protesting outside Tampa Bay Ray's baseball games for dropping the "Devil" out of the team name.

From the start, the franchise repeatedly had the worst season of any Major Leagues team when in 2007, the franchise, known as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, decided to change the team colors and drop the "Devil" from the name.

Satanic worshipers and members of the occult have protested the entire 2008 baseball season. Many of the devil worshipers, some who have not been out in the sun in years, risked getting a suntan to protest in the Tampa sun.

Attorney Bob Beezle, who represents the Sun Coast Chapter of the National Satanic-Devil Worshipers Association of America, was amongst the protesters: "These people have been marginalized for too long. A lot of people don't know this, but Satan worshipers love baseball. It's all they talk about. It's something to do with the bats . . . I think. I doesn't really matter what the connection is. It's about the little guy, and that's what every great baseball story is about: the little guy, the underdog who finally wins. My clients, these lovable satanic devil worshipers are the little guy too. Don't they deserve to win?"

The satanic worshipers deny any connection between dropping the "Devil" from the name and the team playing the best season in the franchise's history, culminating in a win over the Boston Red Sox last night, with a good chance at playing in the World Series for the first time.
