image for 'Joke In Ear' Is New Joe Kinnear Joke On Wearside
It's about THIS funny

Sunderland fans, honouring the 'magnificent' appointment of Joe Kinnear as the manager of their fierce rivals Newcastle United, have come up with a brilliant new joke to poke at their near-neighbours - "Joe Kinnear - Joke In Ear!"

It's not really a brilliant joke, but under the circumstances, it's not bad, and it's certainly a lot better than the appointment itself.

Kinnear has been given the job on an interim basis for perhaps eight or nine matches, which is really another joke, for how could he do anything with a situation like the one at Newcastle in such a short space of time?

Further comedy came when it was realised that Kinnear promotes, not the beautiful, free-flowing football Geordie fans crave, but Long Ball Hoofing, reminiscent of lower league 'clubbers' like Wimbledon.

More polite Sunderland supporters have resisted the temptation to use the 'Toon' term, as in 'Cartoon', but many are enjoying the shambolic moments being endured by those a few miles up the road.

As a punchline to this 'funny old mess', Mr Kinnear is Irish, prompting Black Cats fans to come up with:

How many Irish managers with a mediocre record and a list of sick notes as long as the Tyne Bridge, does it take to save an ailing, sleeping football giant?

Answer: More than this one.

Make Monkey Woods's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
