image for 2008 British Open: Tiger Woods Well Down Leaderboard
Greg Norman today

Tiger Woods, the world no. 1 golfer, has it all to do in the final round of the 2008 British Open Golf Championships at Royal Birkdale today. The American is well down the leaderboard, and will have to play the round of his life to get anywhere near the first prize.

Australian Greg Norman leads the field on 2 over par, with KJ Choi and Padraig Harrington two behind, and Woods lying back in bed, spazzed-up after an operation on his knee.

Norman, at 53, has taken the competition by the scruff of its neck, and disregarded the terrible weather to defy his age, but Woods isn't out of it yet, and the Aussie will be looking nervously over his shoulder when his final round begins this afternoon.

Woods said via satellite link from his home in the US:

"It's going to be difficult, but I've come from behind before."
