image for The Oklahoma Sooners Upset The Oklahoma State Cowboys 33-24 To Capture The Battle of Oklahoma
Rex "Long Britches" Longmeister has been the Oklahoma State mascot since 1993.

STILLWATER, Oklahoma - The Sooners swooped into Cowboy country and when all the fussin' and fightin' was done the #17 ranked team from Oklahoma University had defeated the #5 ranked team from the University of Oklahoma State 33-24.

The Oklahoma Sooners had come to town and won The Battle of Oklahoma.

After the game half of the crowd at Boone Pickens Stadium was elated and the other half was deflated.

One Oklahoma State fan identified as Elvira Virginia Plumfiggle, 57, said that she had heard from a reliable source that two of the Oklahoma University coaches had taken a trip down to Lake Charles, Louisiana and met with the world's foremost voodoo woman, Madam Lottie Jo Lafayette.

Mrs. Plumfiggle, who has been married and divorced four times, said that she heard from the reliable source that they had paid Madam Lafayette $600 to cast an evil spell on the Oklahoma State team.

Sports Balls Illustrated Daily asked the dean of the University of Oklahoma if he knew anything about this so called football curse.

He shook his head. He then opened up a drawer and pulled out a file with the name Elvira Virginia Plumfiggle on it.

The dean then said that Mrs. Plumfiggle has been making that very same claim for the past 13 years.

He pointed out that Plumfiggle has actually served time down in Chickasha State Prison for various reasons ranging from counterfeiting to molesting a holstein dairy cow.

SIDENOTE: Oklahoma natives Carrie Underwood, Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, Vince Gil, and Reba McEntire all sang the "Stars Spangled Banner" before the game. Several fans noted that for some reason Reba was kind of pitchy.
