image for Magician an absolute 9/4 steal for Royal Ascot's St James's Palace Stakes according to online bookies
The Coolmore Stables star won't need blinkers on Tuesday

Ascot, Berks - Bred by Ireland's Absolutelyfabulous Syndicate the three year-old bay colt ran 'an absolute bloody blinder' at the Curragh last month to storm to a 3½L victory over Gale Force Ten in the 2013 renewal of the Irish 2000 Guineas.

On Tuesday the son of Galileo out of a game Mozart mare will face British 2000n Guineas winner - and subsequent Epsom Derby 2013 flop - Dawn Approach, a lovely chestnut colt born on St George's Day 2010, part owned by Dubai's Shaikh Mohammed and part by trainer Jim Bolger.

With a few notable exceptions among the seven other contenders for this Royal Ascot Group One mile the top two favorites have been scooping up all the antepost money with Dawn Approach as short as 11/8fav in the market, if rails bookmakers' soothsayers are to be believed.

But at exactly one day younger the Michael Tabor/Derrick Smith/Mrs John Magnier-owned and Aidan O'Brien-trained Magician is the one to watch for Tuesday's miler showdown, not least because Shaikh Mohammed's equine luck is still in a downward spiralling plummet ever since a doping scandal hit one of his most prestigious stables.

Speaking in hushed terms at a Newmarket jockeys' sauna and fitness spa tonight O'Brien stable jockey Joseph O'B was brimming with confidence about tomorrow's St James's rout of a promising field lead by the Jim Bolger star.

"All the lads have bet their next six months' wages on Magician's victory tomorrow," O'Brien chuckled from inside the steamy room.

"Watch us demolish the rest of the field to win comfortably for at least five lengths."
