Christmas is over for the Celtics.

Dionte Christmas, which is not quite like Little Christmas, has been cut by the Boston Celtics in time for the holidays (Halloween upcoming). Little Christmas arrives in January, but Dionte Christmas leaves in October.

Apparently all that bonding in Turkey resulted in undressing and cold potatoes with no gravy for Dionte Christmas. He turned over his green uniform with the shamrocks to the leprechaun.

The Celtics made a great to-do over their recent trip to Europe for a week of renewing old acquaintances and forging new ones for the New Year of NBA games. Alas and alack, Christmas may as well have sung, "But Not for Me," as his swan song.

There were no merry carols for the rookie sent home before the holidays.

We wonder whether Kevin Garnett knew something we didn't know when he gave Christmas the blandest of all nicknames, "Temple." KG didn't want to waste any time memorizing a name and face when Memorial Day was closer to the playoffs than opening day.

No, Kevin Garnett was not calling Christmas the next Shirley with the sobriquet of 'Temple,' which coincided with the pomp and circumstance of the alma mater for Christmas.

In the words of Leslie Nielsen, "Don't call me Shirley." We suspect Dionte may have protested too much over his nickname-and he was shown to the duck boat off-ramp.

Garnett couldn't be bothered to learn Dionte's name because the hard working player would be forgotten before the superstar ever referred to him again.

The upside is that Christmas will be home for the holidays. Bah, humbug.
