Can Josh Beckett still win 20 games this season for the Boston Red Sox? Could he end the season of 2012 with a record of 20-12?

Panic-stricken fans in Red Sox Nation are ready to let Beckett go to the highest bidder, dismissing his career as already over, if not in the proverbial toilet.

Overweight, temperamental, apathetic, the former clubhouse beer-drinking pitcher has been more sour than usual with the media.

Who could blame him? After all, the media excoriated him for the alleged infraction that he drank beer during the game with his cohorts on the pitching staff. He has been called overweight and accused of losing the desire to win games.

This makes him a sure thing when it comes to trade bait.

Some media critics have called for a total purge of starters on the Red Sox, figuring that anyone can start the game. Just ask Daniel Bard.

Our suggestion is that there is still half a season ahead, and we are now seeing the glass as half-empty. Well, perhaps it is a beer stein, belonging to a mug.

Beckett could still win thirteen games and end up one of the most amazing pitchers in Sox history. He has gone on a run of well-pitched games in the past.

As long as no blisters or dubious pitching coaches get in his way, we suspect that Beckett could turn around the Red Sox fortunes. Then, he could demand a trade to some Texas team where he would feel appreciated.
