Biggest team decision before each playoff game may be the bestowing of the Shoes of the Leprechaun by the Boston Celtics.

In Rome, the Cardinals decide on who wears the Shoes of the Fisherman, but the Celtics decide on who wears the green sneakers.

Only one player per game is elected to the elevated shoes.

We would love to be in on the pregame discussion. On various nights we have seen Rondo in the green sneaks, but mostly there is Paul Pierce in the neon green shoes.

On some nights Ray Allen will tend toward the half and half green shoes.

We have not determined yet the tribal powwow that votes on what Celtic wears the shoes that belong with Lucky the Leprechaun's pot of gold.

Not since the ruby red slippers of Oz has there been such an honor. We wonder how much magic there is in green sneaks.

Click twice and score? Celtics must be careful that the wicked witches from Miami and Indiana don't drop a house on the franchise.

Whether the green sneaks are simply an honor, a psychological weapon, or merely a color code easier to see flash on the floor as players dribble up and down, we are not yet sure. The Celtics aren't talking.

Green eggs and green shoes with ham on the side, Dr. Seuss knew an acquired taste when he saw it.

You could do worse than learn that one man wearing green sneakers makes all the difference.

The yoke of scoring may be on the feet of the man in the Celtics colored footwear. You cannot walk on eggshells if you are the Celtic player in the green sneaks.
