Roy Hodgson's first match since his recent appointment as England manager will not go ahead next weekend. England were due to play a friendly against Wales at Wembley stadium, but the game had to be called off after a mixup led to a team of whales being booked by mistake.
The stadium had been flooded with water and the tunnel to the changing rooms widened to accommodate the giant oceanic mammals. But it was only on inspecting the grass that the groundsman began to suspect that something was amiss. Groundskeeper Mo De Lawn said, "The grass was a bit long, and I thought it might not give very good ball movement, especially since it was under forty feet of water as well."
It is thought the be the biggest mistake made in booking England games since they played the cast of Grease: The Musical in 2007. They were meant to be playing Greece the country.
However, this is not the first instance of a team being misbooked. In 1997, Scotland failed to notice a mistake and recorded their best ever win when they beat a set of china pottery 3-2.
