Anfield Cat gets the hump after seeing his Twitter feed

The Attorney General is to investigate comments made by Joey Barton on Twitter during a heated debate with Anfield Cat.

The scouse moggy became an internet sensation after running onto the pitch during last night's game between Liverpool and Spurs.

The highlights of Anfield Cat's cameo performance were shown on You Tube and the tabby already has 23,000 followers on it's official Twitter page, despite making only 22 tweets.

But Barton is not in the mood to pussyfoot around and has described Anfield Cat as: "an average footballer and a talentless attention-seeking helmet."

Despite Barton's attack, there is groundswell support for the Anfield Cat to be made the next captain of England and Fabio Capello has acclaimed the stray moggy as "the most intelligent footballer since Ferenc Pusskas."

However, bigwigs at the FA have urged the Attorney General to examine statements made by Barton that the moggy is "slower than Fat Frank Lampard" and are further alarmed at claims by Barton that he himself should replace John Terry as the next England skipper.

But the defiant Joey Barton will not be silenced and is prepared to go to prison to preserve his freedom of speech.

"What is the point of living, if you cannot express your opinion. #georgeorwell #1984", tweeted Joey Barton to his millions of followers.

@Anfield Cat escalated the row on Twitter by claiming that he uses pages from George Orwell's 1984 to line his litter tray and was then told by @Joey7Barton to: "man up and stop being a pussy" or he would have a cigar stubbed out in his eye.

Ex-England captain John Terry has also become involved in the debate. The Chelsea defender will refuse to shake the moggy's paw if it replaces him as leader of England but has denied calling Anfield Cat "a fucking black cunt."
