100 Centenarians Centurians Celebrate the Century
One hundred centenarian centurians today celebrated the one hundredth member of their exclusive one hundred club (again).
To become a member of the centenarian centurians centenary club, one has to meet strict criteria, the most obvious being that you have to be at least one hundred years old.
Also, only descendants of the feared elite Roman soldiers are permitted to apply to join and proof of legitimate descendancy is mandatory.
A more macabre criteria, however, is that only one hundred members are allowed at any one time, and this can, and sometimes does, cause friction and ill feeling.
Mr C. Enntenial, 100, who is the latest lucky member, claimed that his joy in gaining membership was in no way diluted by the knowledge that someone had died, making way for him.
The average length of membership is said to be "no more than a few years".
