Blogging has become so popular in recent years, so much as to make diary writing obsolete. An intensive study of grade 2 students was conducted in Norway.
Every elementary school in southern Norway was part of this study. Each grade 2 student was asked if they kept a pen and paper journal; shockingly, only 15% of students did, compared to a whopping 80% in 1994. A whole 75% of students had blogs, including many of the students who had diaries.
When asked about the privacy of a diary and the publicity of a blog, Niklas Bjorklund replied "There are so many blogs out there, that no one reads mine. My blog is my private journal."
This truly is the generation of technology.
