Yoshinori Ono the producer of the Street Fighter IV series has today in Hokkaido announced a new sequel that will be released in 2012 or 2013.
The move coincides with Street Fighter's anniversary which will see the series turn 25 years old and follows speculation regarding this year's E3 festival that there will be more in store for fans than Street Fighter X Tekken.
Ono has gave small details regarding the sequel including the possible inclusion of Gouken's daughter. The majority of the roster is said to be new with the exception of a few old favourites.
The number of warriors is going to smaller than prior Street Fighters and includes new nationalities such as Canadian, Australian and even Bangladeshi.
An insider has also revealed that the new boss will be a female character.
Still little is known about the storyline and chronology of the sequel, officials have stated it will follow a purely 2D format like the Alpha series and Third Strike. Ono said he wants the series to be something completely new from prior instalments.
