Houston, TX-- NASA's Kepler Mission made a remarkable discovery in Outer Space today. The Kepler Mission spotted three legendary planets--Krypton, Vulcan and Gallifrey. All three planets are well known to science-fiction fans, although their existence was unexpected. The Kepler Mission was able to photograph all three planets and send back stunning images to NASA.
The Kepler Mission was launched in 2008. It is designed to scan over 100,000 nearby stars for signs of any earth-like planets. The discovery of Krypton, Vulcan and Gallifrey was an unexpected bonanza.
Images taken of Krypton are very dramatic. The planet appears to be breaking apart from some cataclysm. The extra-sensitive Kepler telescope was able to see a small rocket launched from the dying planet. The rocket appeared just big enough to hold a baby, and it was aimed directly at Earth.
Kepler's photos of Vulcan are incredible. Giant spaceships can be seen orbiting Vulcan. Kepler shows Vulcan to be a dry, reddish planets. Its sun is dim and appears unstable.
Gallifrey was the most distant plant eyed by the Kepler Mission. Scientists at NASA were perplexed to see something like an old fashioned British police-box spinning around the planet. More pictures are expected soon.
The Kepler Mission will continue for many years. NASA expects even more dramatic discoveries in the near future. Images of the Centauri Homeworld, Dune and Beta-zed are expected next week.
"These discoveries are very important." said NASA's head honcho Dr. Karl Saygun. "The discoveries tell us that all these so-called imaginary planets are real. They also tell us that we know a lot about Outer Space already. This makes it much easier to accept the inevitable alien contact, whenever it happens."
