image for Comet McNaught to pass directly above Trooping the Colour
Crossing the eye of Medusa this weekend

London - (Portents): The baleful harbinger of Hellfire Club doom will transit above Whorse Guards Parade, SW1 this Saturday morning at the precise moment of the Gemini new moon.

Comet McNaught's resplendent trajectory should be visible to the naked eye, eclipsing the shadowy puppet monarch's Birthday Suit Parade below.

That pompous annual freakshow is particularly susceptible this year to the celestial visitor's stark message: Au Revoir and Good Riddance.

McNaught was first discovered in 2009 by a NASA skysearch program at Australia's Siding Spring Observatory.

The C/2009 R1 phenomenon is crossing the constellation Perseus, a zodiac grouping named after the ancient Greek hero whose father Zeus, king of the gods, impregnated beautiful royal prisoner Danae while disguised as a 'wouldn't piss on her parade even if she caught fire' golden shower.

Positioned north of the ecliptic plane Perseus is one of the original 48 constellations listed by Ptolemy and is bordered by Cassiopeia, Andromeda, Triangulum, Aries, Taurus, Auriga and Camelopardalis.

McNaught's pathway crosses that quadrant of Perseus which astronomers call the Medusa - a starry cluster resembling the monster that the ancient demi-god decapitated.

The brilliant star star Algol in the Perseus constellation represents the eye of the demonic Medusa and McNaught will twinkle like an optic Iris this weekend during its transit.

Prepare for a massive shock on Sunday morning, Father's Day 2010.
