image for Windows 7 Better than Harry Potter
Windows Vista was "Too Hard"

Pre-order sales of Microsoft Windows 7, due for release any time now, have soared in recent weeks.

Such has been the demand, that on pre-order sales alone, Amazon have announced that it outstripped the previous record holder Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by an order of magnitude.

"It's our current best seller," said Anna Zonn, head of Marketing and PR at the internet retailer. "We're hoping now that Microsoft can deliver the required number of products."

The unexpected surge in demand for Microsoft's latest version of their operating system has baffled industry analysts.

"I don't know why it's so popular," said Ian Dustry. Alan Liszt added: "It maybe something to do with the advertising campaign we came up with for them where 'ordinary' people claim to have invented Windows 7 by asking Microsoft for something easier to use."

Cynthia Ickle, who produces the Science and Technology Conspiracy Theory Bi-Annual Pamphlet (STACTBAP), agrees. "It's totally down to that advert," she said. "Basically, there's millions of people currently suffering with Vista who want to get onto to something they can actually use. I'm not holding my breath."

The main selling points of Windows 7 are that it loads quickly and is easy to use. Both things that Windows Vista lacks.
