They're determined little buggers!

A British man living in the Thai eastern seaboard resort of Pattaya, has recounted to anyone who would listen how he was so bored the other day, that he decided to play a little trick on some ants in his apartment.

Ants, as everyone knows, like to eat sweet things, and their hungry little noses will sniff out sugary smells at great distances.

The man, originally from Hull, saw a small line of ants climbing up his bin on Monday, and discovered that they were coming from a hole in the wall just above an airconditioning unit. He reasoned that the ants' nest must be somewhere behind that wall.

The man, having nothing better to do, put some sugar in a cup and placed it in the bin, and then moved the bin further away, just to see how far the little blighters would come for their quarry.

He then repeatedly moved the bin further and further away, increasing the distances by up to 10 metres, until the bin was now more than 150 metres away from its original location. It was now in the street, outside a 7Eleven convenience store.

Still the ants came.

It was estimated by a street vendor that there must now have been nearly 4 million ants in the column, which was four inches thick, and could be seen from the moon.

It was only when local police intervened and told the man to "stop messing about" that the experiment was brought to a conclusion, and the bin put back where it belonged.

After police left the man's 8th floor apartment, he put the bin out on his balcony, and set fire to the rubbish bag, killing more than 20,000 ants.

Police have said they couldn't give a toss.

Make Monkey Woods's day - give this story five thumbs-up (there's no need to register, the thumbs are just down there!)

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
