Microsoft unveiled Windows 7 on Saturday, demonstrating the multitude of features that the new version of the operating system has to offer. The overwhelming of the download servers is not Microsoft's biggest headache for the new product though.
"It has to be said," said Emma Massdos, spokesperson for the monolithic multinational, "that we are struggling to come up with a catchy name. Indeed, we're not even sure if it is Windows 7, it might be Windows eight or even twelve. There was the first four versions up to Windows 3.1, then was Windows 95, 98 and ME, XP and Vista which means we're on ten, not seven. Plus, we have the various NT operating systems. Unless some of the versions were really the same operating system that we made people buy twice, but I cannot believe we would do that.
"In the past we've given Windows the name of the year, and random initials, and now we've started using random words. We did try Windows Pane, Ledge, Box, Frame and Seat but these have been trademarked by IBM. It's like they knew. We've thought of Windows Hasta-la, but that should have come before Vista, so that was out. We also thought of Finestre, but Italians would wonder why we called it Windows Windows. It's been a struggle."
For now, Windows 7 will continue to be called by the inaccurate number.
