Ophelia Adelphi can hardly wait to take her first ride on the Space Shuttle.

HOUSTON - President Obama recently stated to a group of retired lumberjacks up in Portland, Oregon that times have really changed.

And now with NASA's announcement, that saying is really, really ringing true.

NASA spokesman Trent Timmelfarb informed the members of the news media that the space agency has just hired a 67-year-old Michigan grandmother of 17 to be in the next astronaut class.

Ophelia Adelphi who lives in Saginaw, Michigan said that ever since she was a little girl growing up in her hometown she always dreamed of one day either joining the circus or going into space.

NASA stated that Mrs. Adelphi met all of the physical, mental, emotional, and geographical requirements.

They stressed that in this day and age no company can discriminate against anyone on grounds of race, color, gender, age, religion, looks, creed, or political affiliation.

SIDENOTE: Trent Timmelfarb told of a case in Manhattan where a law firm discriminated against an 87-year-old attorney and he ended up suing the law firm and being awarded a $3.7 million dollar settlement. Needless to say he retired immediately
