image for Archaeologists Discover Ancient Frozen Pizzas
A Modern Version

Pizzas that were frozen during the Little Ice Age centuries ago have been discovered in Northern Europe. Papa John Piloe and his team of archaeologists raced against the clock recently to collect the ancient pizzas exposed from rapidly melting ice in northern Europe's highest mountains. Their discovery will result in a revision of dates in pizza history, including the widely-held belief that the first frozen pizzas were released by Celentano Brothers in 1957.

According to Piloe and his team, the discovery effort was a very difficult job, as ancient pizzas can turn to dust within days if not collected and stored in a freezer. An archaeologist on the team said that the pizzas appeared to be "meat lovers" specials because they had toppings of bacon, pepperoni, and woolly mammoth. This could not be independently confirmed; due to an unfortunate mix-up, the pizzas have been reheated and eaten by fraternity brothers from the University of Finland. Their opinion was that the quality of the pizzas was low and, according to one fraternity brother, they tasted like "prehistoric cardboard."
