Houston, TX--There is a new mystery in Outer Space and it's making everyone a little nervous. All six American flags planted on the moon have disappeared. NASA says the flags seem to have vanished sometime in the last few weeks. Nobody knows why.
America went to the moon six times between 1969 and 1972. Each team of astronauts planted a flag at each of the six landing sites scattered across the face of the moon. They were meant to stay up for millions of years.
"We really don't know what happened, at least not yet." said NASA spokesman Dr. Karl Saygun.
The space agency immediately dismissed the idea that UFOs stole the flags:
"Tabloid nonsense! The stuff of silly conspiracy theories!" laughed Dr. Saygun. "Maybe the solar wind blew them down." he added
Many people are worried that the disappearance of the flags was caused by space aliens. They are also very worried that the space aliens might be hostile and are planning to attack.
As Dr. Saygun was talking to the press, an unexpected report came in from the Curiosity Rover on Mars. The rover spotted six American flags on the martian surface. All of the flags had been ripped to pieces. Dr. Saygun was briefed on the new information and then continued speaking with reporters.
"You see, this just proves what I was saying before--it wasn't caused by flying saucers!" said Dr. Saygun. "The solar wind blew the flags all the way to Mars. There's always a rational explanation to everything!"
