Houston, TX-- The earth is about to get a lot of new neighbors, beginning today. At least 500 interstellar planets will enter our Solar System, and stay around for the next ten years. There is little danger of any planetary collision with the new arrivals, but it will make the night sky even more dazzling.
Astronomers believe when planets form, there simply isn't enough room for all of them. Planetary formation is like a game of musical chairs, with the losers consigned to the interstellar space. These lost planets eventually find each other, forming gigantic swarms. One such swarm is coming to visit us right now.
All of the 500 new planets will be visible at night, and dozens of the brighter planets will be visible at daytime. The sky will look like it's filled with shining diamonds and even city dwellers will be treated to the incredible sight. The night sky will look like a Van Gogh painting until the planetary swarm leaves, about a decade from now.
Because distances in space are so vast, there is very little danger of any calamity. Professional and amateur star-gazers are looking forward to the stunning event with great anticipation!
