image for How Spoof Writer got to 'first base' with professional hockey player Baseball equipment. Wimps use a mitt. We don't use them in 'Rounders'.

It happened a number of years ago, admits female Spoof Writer. People are gobsmacked when I tell them I got to first base with a professional hockey player.

I don't want to embarrass him by mentioning his name, but he owns a large lake-front property in Port Dover, Ontario.

This truly happened.

He was visiting his brother at the school his brother, and our Spoof Writer, were both teaching at the time.

It just so happened that this day was the day of the Teachers V Students annual baseball game.

It was our writers turn to bat (she'd never held a baseball bat before, but played 'rounders' as a child in England).

She positioned herself, bat in hand facing the pitcher who WAS the famous professional hockey player.

As the ball came hurtling towards her she pulled the bat back then swung wildly in the direct of the ball.

To her great surprise SHE HIT IT and RAN.

She reached first base safely.

And that is the truth. She DID get to first base with Rob Blake. Oops!

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
