image for ET's : They're a strange bunch! Old fashioned!

What looks very much like depictions of UFO's have been found on ancient cave drawings at several locations around the world. They were not put there by anyone who'd just seen a science fiction film about aliens at their local cinemas!

That flying discs were darting around in the sky thousands of years ago ,and that they are still doing much the same thing today is use for great concern. What I find strange is that for thousands of years the design of the alien vehicles remains exactly the same. What sort of mindset do these 'visitors from the stars' have? As a comparison let's consider the motor-car. The first car was the Ford T Model (The 'Tin Lizzie'). It was produced between 1908 and 1927. Since then many thousands of different designs have come onto the market. Modern cars use the same petrol based propulsion system but hardly look anything like that first car. Don't the ET's ever fancy flying around in something a bit different? It's just the same old boring discs all the time. They're a strange bunch!

Could we ever really get along with them? It's like eating. The aliens probably eat the same food at every meal. Like rice.

"Fancy some curry to go with that rice?" we'd ask.

"No,i'm perfectly happy with this rice" would be the reply. BORING!

Even the most adventurous ET would only go as far as trying some rice pudding after his main meal of plain boiled rice. And yet they've somehow constructed flying discs capable of taking them across the universe? I don't buy it. I think they stole them from a more imaginative race of beings - a more human-like species. This lot won't even try fish 'n' chips. What are we going to do?

I think we need to be very wary. Human nature is such that we can't avoid picking up habits from the sort of people we regularly mix with. That's the way we're made. Do you really want to find yourself eating nothing but rice? I certainly don't. It's believed by some that at America's Area 51 they have one or more of the discs. Crashed one's like at Roswell. That they've been making their own through what is called reverse-engineering. The first thing they should have been doing was to search inside the retrieved discs to try to find an alien menu! Perhaps they did find one. If so my guess is that every dish on it included rice!

The so-called 'leader' of the ET's is probably not to keen for too much contact to be made with us humans. I don't think it's just that they're shy, though I could be wrong. I think he's worried that the worker aliens would pick up some habits from us. That they would start demanding blue flying discs instead of the same old boring silver models. Pretty flashing lights would no longer be enough to keep them happy. Perfectly working silver discs would become worthless. Perhaps they'd get a fiver for each one of e-bay.

Then there's telepathy. Sounds great in theory but if we picked up the habit from the aliens how would you then know whether you were having an intuitive thought or whether it was simply the thought of someone else entering your mind?

We've got to tread very carefully. What of their ability to time-travel? Enough for now though. I'll return to that some other time.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
