Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has applied for a visa to visit the United States in the near future, unnamed sources in the U.S. claim.

The application has allegedly been made as the Iranian leader wishes to meet as many Western leaders as possible and clear up "a number of misconceptions about our country that currently persist in the minds of some politicians in the developed world".

Other unexpected visa applications received this week include -

Benjamin Netanyahu - Gaza Strip

Maggie Thatcher - Argentina

Tony Blair - Any place in the Middle East

Thierry Henri - Republic Of Ireland

Roman Polanski - USA

Diego Maradona - England
